Is my sugar vegan, bone char filtering?

My concern here is animal bone char filtering. I used to buy whatever sugar was cheapest and then I found out about the use of animal bones to filter the sugar and found it gross. The sugar I get now is C%26amp;H pure cane sugar, Granulated white, distributed by Domino Foods, inc from Yonkers, NY. I called the company and they told me that any sugar that comes from Yonkers is not filtered with bone char. But I have read online that both C%26amp;H and Domino are not vegan sugars(with the exception of their organic sugars). Does anyone know anything about this? Does the fact that my sugar says it is from Yonkers NY guarantee that it is processed without animal bones? Thanks. Is my sugar vegan, bone char filtering?
C%26amp;H/domino raw sugars have not been filtered in any way so these products from both companies are what can be considered "vegan". C%26amp;H also now classifies "bone char" (short for bone charcoal) as "natural carbon/charcoal". I do know some vegans who will use white sugar if left with no other option and also because they consider charcoal no longer an real animal product. "Pure cane sugar" means the source of the sugar is sugarcane (as opposed to sugar beets) and does not speak of the filtering/bleaching process, just the source. Beet sugar doe snot need to be filtered using any cahrcoal/carbon matrix, bone or otherwise but blind tasting surveys showed that most people preferred the taste of sugarcane sugar to sugar beet sugar although they are essentially the same.

"Brown" sugar is just filtered/bleached white sugar with molasses added back to it so it's probably also not what you are looking for. You are "safer" with turbinado, raw or beet sugars. Or you can try the various "vegan sweeteners" the most popular of which is agave nectar. Is my sugar vegan, bone char filtering?
The only vegan sugars domino produces are the following:

Domino Demerara Washed Raw Cane Sugar

Domino Pure Cane Certified Organic Sugar

Otherwise, it is most likely that the sugar was filtered through bone char.

"American Sugar Refining Inc. Yonkers. N.Y.. completed its acquisition of C%26amp;H Sugar Co. Inc. American Sugar Refining is owned by Florida Crystals Corp and Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida. The addition of C%26amp;H will bring American Sugar Refining's annual capacity to approximately 3 million tons of refined sugar and specialty products. Domino Foods, the sales and marketing arm of American Sugar Refining and Okeel" http://www.allbusiness.com/agriculture-f鈥?/a>

So, it's definitely refined sugar, and since its "purified" that means its most likely with bone char as I don't know any other way the industry purifies it.

It's doubtful that it's vegan. But let's talk about what IS vegan. Take a look at this link and decide how many of these things you'll give up because they're made of animal slaughter byproducts?

So, come on, when you consider there are animal slaughter byproducts in the roads you drive on, the bindings of your books, the furniture you set on, it's used in electrical transmission, etc., is the fact that the sugar you use might be filtered with bone char that big of a deal?
It doesn't matter where it was made.

If it is WHITE sugar, bone char was the filter.

Just the way sugar is made.
