Domino's delivery charge?

I occasionally like to order from dominos or pizza hut online. they always include a $2.50 delivery charge. Is this the tip? Even if it is, I give a few more to equal 20%, but do the driver's get the $2.50?Domino's delivery charge?
Short answer is NO. This is not the tip. Domino's are typically franchises, so they can set their own policies but the driver will get a reimbursement per delivery, which is almost always less than the delivery charge. It may cover gas but it is not the tip.

The tip is customary and expected in the US. A non-tipper can expect poor service on future orders, as drivers remember who tips well and who is a stiff.
we tip people who bring us food, but not those who protect us...

Domino's delivery charge?
There are a lot of misconceptions regarding delivery charge and tipping. First of all the car is owned by the delivery person who gets less than half of the total delivery charge. That barely covers gas and does not cover car maintenance. This job (minus car care and gas) barely pays minimum wage.

I agree with Isanne. The fee is new these past few years. Most stores have absolutely NO overhead for tables, chairs, bathrooms or other features to accommodate patrons. When they feel the burn from bad drivers due to poor tips as a result of the fee, the owners will stop being such greedy bastids.

Domino's delivery charge?
Wow, $2.50 for a Delivery Charge is a little much. My Local Domino's was charging $1.50 and they went up recently. I wonder if the decrease in the price of gasoline will also cause a reduction in the Delivery Charge.

And NO, the Delivery Charge and the Tip would be two separate things. I always give $3.00 now, unless my order is really late --then I give them only $2.00. The Delivery person told me he only gets $0.90 of the $1.50 fee to cover gasoline for each trip.
The delivery charge most of the time goes to the restaurant so that they can make money on the delivery. The driver might get a percentage of that, but not much.
From what I can remember, yes they do get the $2.50. At the end of the day when they cash out they get back the $2.50 from every delivery that they did. So I usually don't tip much because I know they get that.
